About

Souryabrata joined the team in Spring 2025. His research sits at the intersection of environmental and development economics, with a focus on climate change, agricultural transformation, green transitions, and just migration. He is particularly interested in how environmental challenges interact with structural economic vulnerabilities and how these dynamics translate into solutions that work on the ground.

He holds a PhD from the University of Auckland Business School, where he received an early doctoral completion award. His academic journey also includes a gold medal in his bachelor’s programme and recognition from the Governor of RBI during his master’s studies.

His work has been published in well-regarded journals, and he has held several research positions over the years. He also writes invited pieces for newspapers and magazines, helping bring research insights to a wider audience.

Souryabrata actively engages with academic and policy communities, regularly participating in interdisciplinary conferences and policy discussions. He has also collaborated with ADBI Tokyo on multiple occasions.

He has received recognition for his publications from CG Research Networks USA and currently serves on the editorial boards of several high-impact journals.
