B. Ravindra joined IIT Jodhpur in 2010. He obtained his BTech from NIT Warangal in 1987 and M.Tech from IIT Kanpur in 1989 both in the area of Mechanical engineering. He obtained his PhD in 1994 from IIT Kanpur in the area of Nonlinear Vibrations. His main areas of research are Nonlinear Vibrations, Mechatronics, Vehicle dynamics and Renewable energy. Prior to joining IIT Jodhpur, he did his postdoctoral work in HongKong in the year 1995-1996. Subsequently he spent two years as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow at Technical university of Darmstadt, Germany. During 1998-2000 he worked in gas turbine industry with Alstom power. He worked on shape memory alloy actuators for automotive applications at the General Motors R&D center in Bangalore. At the IIT Jodhpur, he was involved in establishing a rooftop solr PV plant and Mechanical engineering laboratories. He was also a member of Building works committee and was actively involved in the campus construction and sustainable buildings research. He conducted a GIAN program on Vehicle dynamics. He is also involved in "Bridging the Innovation gap in schools" project to promote establishment of tinkering labs in rural schools.
