Assistant ProfessorAbout
Dr. Nipun Arora completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2017. Prior to that, he earned his M.Tech in Thermal Engineering from IIT Delhi in 2013, and his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (now DTU) in 2011. He pursued postdoctoral research at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology from 2017 to 2018.
Dr. Arora’s research focuses on bio-inspired aerodynamics, unsteady flow physics, and flapping-wing micro air vehicles (MAVs). At IIT Jodhpur, he leads research in experimental and computational aerodynamics, including force/torque measurements, flow visualization, and kinematic optimization. He has developed in-house high-fidelity LBM-based CFD solvers with dynamic mesh refinement, alongside low-fidelity methods like unsteady vortex panels. His solvers are parallelized using open-MPI and CUDA, and integrated with FSI coupling techniques. His broader goal is to enable efficient design and development of next-generation flapping MAV prototypes.
