Dr. Barun Pratiher is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati in 2019, following a Master of Engineering in Engineering Mechanics from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur (formerly Bengal Engineering College) in 2004.

He began his academic career as a Lecturer at BITS Pilani and later joined IIT-ISM Dhanbad (formerly ISM Dhanbad) as an Assistant Professor in May 2009. In July 2011, he moved to IIT Jodhpur as an Assistant Professor.

His research interests span vibration and control, rotor dynamics, flexible robotic systems, MEMS, and nonlinear dynamics. Dr. Pratiher has published several research articles (60+) in leading international journals and conferences, contributing significantly to these areas. He has successfully led and completed multiple research projects and continues to be actively engaged in ongoing research endeavors.
