Dr. Yogeshwar Nath Mishra is an Assistant Professor at IIT Jodhpur and a former NASA Scientist. He earned his Ph.D. in Photonics and Engineering Physics from Lund University, Sweden (2018), where he developed advanced laser diagnostics for probing optically dense spray systems. He later worked as a researcher at FAU Erlangen (Germany), University of Gothenburg (Sweden), and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Caltech (USA).
Mentored by globally renowned scientists such as Prof. Lihong Wang (Caltech), Dr. Murthy Gudipati (NASA), and Prof. Wolfgang Heidrich (KAUST), Dr. Mishra has made pioneering contributions in ultrafast imaging and laser-based diagnostics. At Caltech, he co-invented laser sheet compressed ultrafast photography (LS-CUP), recognized as the world’s fastest single-shot planar imaging method. More recently, he reported CUP2AI, the world’s fastest molecular mapping technique.
His work has been widely featured in Physics World, Nature India, Phys.org, The Hindu, The Indian Express, Caltech News, and national TV. He has received several honors, including the Swedish Research Council International Postdoctoral Fellowship (2018), Dr. K. Radhakrishnan Young Scientist Award (2023), and the Young Researcher Award (runner-up) from FAU Erlangen (2025). He also co-founded Fourier Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd., developing smart optical technologies for energy and biomedical applications.
