Arun Kumar R is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur. His area of expertise lies in high-speed flows and shock waves. He has established the Shock Waves and High-Speed Flow Laboratory (SWAHS Lab) at IIT Jodhpur, which focuses on experimental and computational research related to supersonic and hypersonic flow phenomena, including fuel injection, mixing enhancement, and blast wave interactions.
The Shock Waves and High-Speed Flow Laboratory (SWAHS Lab) is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of research and technology development in the aerospace and defense sectors. In addition to traditional high-speed aerodynamic applications, the lab actively explores multidisciplinary extensions of shock wave and high-speed flow research into fields such as refrigeration systems, biomedical engineering, industrial processing, and water purification. Ongoing research includes projects on supersonic intakes, supersonic air-fuel mixing in scramjet combustors, flow control and actuators, gas turbine cooling, electric propulsion systems, shock and blast wave attenuation, as well as novel applications like solar ejector refrigeration, steam ejector-based water purification, and shock wave-assisted biomedical techniques.
