Ayan Sadhukhan

Dr. Ayan Sadhukhan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioscience and Bioengineering at IIT Jodhpur. His research focuses on plant functional genomics, particularly mechanisms of abiotic stress tolerance in plants. He employs model systems like Arabidopsis thaliana and extremophyte species from the Thar desert to explore genetic and epigenetic adaptations to environmental stressors.

He earned his B.Tech in Biotechnology from West Bengal University of Technology (2008) and Ph.D. in Bioscience and Bioengineering from IIT Guwahati (2015).

Prior to joining IIT Jodhpur, he was an Assistant Professor at the Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation (2021-2022). He  conducted  postdoctoral research in Japan (Gifu University; 2015-2019) and USA (University of Florida; 2019-2020). He received the JSPS postdoctoral fellowship in 2016. His work integrates high-throughput genomic tools, including genome-wide association studies (GWAS), transcriptomics, and genome editing, to identify key genes and pathways involved in plant stress responses.
