I am an Assistant Professor in
the Department of Bioscience and Bioengineering at IIT Jodhpur. I have also
served as a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Pathology, The
Ohio State University, USA from 2019 to 2022. I am a recipient of Pelotonia
Postdoctoral Fellowship, The Ohio State University, USA.
The focus of my research group is
to develop diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and drug targets for lung
cancer using multi-omics approaches. We also perform drug testing in clinically
relevant patient-derived xenografts in humanized mouse models and tumor
organoids.
In one of our projects, we are
developing induced-Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs)-derived lung organoids for
studying the molecular mechanisms of silica dust-induced Silicosis disease,
which is an occupational hazard for sandstone miners in the local area.
We also perform drug repurposing
studies to identify drug combinations capable of improving the efficacy of
existing chemotherapies and immunotherapies for drug-resistant lung cancer
patients. My previous research showed that tumor-associated macrophages can be
activated against breast and lung cancers. This research has potential to
develop novel immune-based therapies for cancer patients. The long term goal of
my research is to improve the health status of lung cancer and Silicosis
patients.
