Assistant Professor at the School of Liberal Arts, IIT Jodhpur, with over a decade of experience spanning academia and the development sector. He has previously served at IIM Shillong, IIE Guwahati, NIRD&PR (NERC), ASRLM, and PRADAN. He holds a PhD from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and dual M.A. degrees in Rural Development and History (Ancient). Dr. Kakati has led ten research projects funded by prominent agencies, including ICSSR, NHRC, NABARD, NEDFi, and the IKS Division, MoE, focusing on rural development, sustainable livelihoods, community empowerment, Appropriate Technology, and the Indian knowledge system. His extensive publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters contribute to rural development, sustainability, participatory governance, and cultural studies. Beyond research and teaching, he is a creative writer and theatre artist, with over a hundred poems and stories published, two books on Assamese theatre, and recognition from the Assam Sahitya Sabha and the Dispur Press Club for his literary and social contributions.
