Assistant ProfessorAbout
Dr. Saurav Kumar received the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Nicholas Gans and Prof. Robert D. Gregg. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University with Prof. Hartmut Geyer (2020–2022) and subsequently a Research Scientist at the University of Texas at Arlington Research Institute (2023–2025). He was a finalist for the Best Student Paper Award at the 2017 IEEE Conference on Control Technology and Applications (CCTA). Dr. Kumar joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur as an Assistant Professor in 2025.
At IIT Jodhpur, Dr. Kumar directs the Wearable Robotics and Control (WeRoCon) Laboratory. His research lies at the intersection of robotics, control, and biomechanics, with a focus on lower-limb wearable robots, including powered prosthetic legs and lower-limb exoskeletons. He develops nonlinear, adaptive, and data-driven control methods that personalize assistance to each user while ensuring robust, real-time performance across everyday terrains and tasks.
