About

Romi Banerjee, is an Assistant Professor, in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Jodhpur, an alumnus of the Diverse Intelligences Summer Institute (DISI), and part of the digital-curator team for the Society of Neuroscience of Creativity. She is also affiliated with the Centre of Education Technology and the Centre for Brain Science and Application - IIT Jodhpur.

It has been a while that she has been trying to understand and model how we do what we do and why we do what we do, towards the design of embodied, social (~empathetic) "thinking machines / systems". She draws inspiration from studies on the origin, evolution and development of fundamental cognitive abilities (e.g. attention, experience-formation, language acquisition, aesthetic-sense, time-space continuum, spontaneous thought, contemplation, wisdom, etc.) across all living species.

Lately, she has begun exploring EdTech solutions for embodied learning, Digital story-telling for heritage preservation, Human-AI co-creation, and Socio-cultural biases in AI.
