Prof. Meenu Chhabra is a
Professor of Bioscience and Bioengineering, and her research is focused on
Environmental Biotechnology. Her group work on Algae carbon capture cells,
Microbial Fuel Cells, Biomass to Bioenergy, Bioremediation and Biomonitoring. She
has a background in Microbiology, with specific training and expertise in
enzyme-based bioremediation, bioprocess development, and wastewater treatment.
As PI or co-Investigator on several GOI funded grants, She laid the groundwork
for the utilizing bio-electrochemical systems for radionuclide bioremediation,
algae based microbial capture cells for bioenergy and water treatment, plant
microbial fuel cells for domestic wastewater treatment, Bioremediation of
xenobiotics and heavy metals and Point-of-Use sensors for BOD and
coliforms. In addition, She successfully administered the projects,
collaborated with other researchers, and produced several peer-reviewed
publications from each project. Currently, the group is discussing and
demonstrating the work to Industry stakeholders for bench to field applications
of our work. In summary, the lab has expertise, leadership, training, and
motivation necessary to successfully carry out work on carbon neutrality, zero
waste, zero water, and circular bioeconomy.
