Cement and concrete are vital to India’s infrastructure growth, enabling urbanization, transportation, housing, and industrial development. However, the sector is energy-intensive and a major source of carbon emissions. In line with India’s climate commitments, environmentally responsible practices must be adopted across the entire lifecycle—from material production and mix design to construction, durability, and end-of-life management. To address these challenges, the Department of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur, in collaboration with the Indian Concrete Institute, Rajasthan Chapter, is organizing a one-day workshop on sustainable cement and concrete technologies. The workshop will feature expert talks on low-carbon materials, alternative binders, supplementary cementitious materials, performance-based standards, durability-driven design, and enabling policies, fostering collaboration among academia, industry, and policymakers.
