About :

Prof. Pradip Kumar Tewari is a Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Professor Chair at Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur) and responsible for setting up Key Resource Centre (KRC) of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) on sustainability of drinking water sources. Under his leadership, IIT Jodhpur has established itself as a lead institute in addressing water issues and providing innovative solutions to deal with environmental & public health challenges in the region. He has extensive experience and expertise in sustainability, water, energy and environment. He was founding Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering in IIT Jodhpur and was responsible for setting the department’s vision and ensuring it meets high standards of excellence. Earlier, he was a Distinguished Scientist (DS) and Associate Director of Chemical Engineering Group in Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Trombay and a renowned Professor affiliated with Home Bhabha National Institute (HBNI). He is recognised for his strong leadership qualities and adeptness in seamlessly executing first-of-its-kind large scale projects from conception to successful completion. Prof. Tewari is responsible for development, demonstration and commercialisation of several innovative water technologies. He was Ramanna Research Fellow (RRF) and consultant to the Office of Principal Scientific.


Adviser (OPSA) to the Government of India on ‘Water Issues’. He has guided and supervised many Ph.D. and M.Tech. students. Prof. Tewari is consultant and advisor togovernment bodies and organisations such as DRDO, DDWS, ONGC, BIS, CPCB, CMWSSB, DST etc. He is a member of academic council of a reputed university. Prof. Tewari received his Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. He has a strong international presence and was Chairman ofInternational Nuclear Desalination Advisory Group in Vienna, Austria from 2005 to 2015. He is Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and IndianChemical Society (ICS). He was President of Indian Desalination Association and Vice President of Asia Pacific Desalination Association (APDA) for several years. Prof. Tewari has more than 175 research publications in peer reviewed journals, proceedings, books and encyclopaedia. He has authored two books on (i) ‘Nano-composite MembraneTechnology'; and (ii) 'Advanced Water Treatment'; published by CRC Press Taylor & Francis Group (USA). He has two patents to his credit. He was a member of the editorial board of several peer reviewed journals. Prof. Tewari has received Lifetime Achievement Award from Indian Desalination Association, an Affiliate of International
Desalination Association (USA). He has earned numerous accolades and is recipient of many awards and felicitations.
