Dr. Santhosh Kumar Varanasi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. He earned his Ph.D. in the broad area of Process Systems Engineering from IIT Hyderabad in 2019. Following his doctorate, he pursued postdoctoral research with the Computer Process Control Group at the University of Alberta, Canada, from September 2019 to March 2022. Prior to joining IIT Jodhpur, he worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Gyan Data Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, from April 2022 to May 2023.

Research Profile:
Our research group at IIT Jodhpur focuses on integrating data analytics into process systems engineering, aiming to advance the field through innovative research and practical applications. Specifically, our group focuses on developing robust, adaptive and explainable predictive models for soft sensing, process monitoring, and control design, as well as data-driven optimization schemes for chemical processes. The research aims to enhance productivity, safety, and efficiency in industrial plants by addressing challenges such as missing data, delays, outliers, and plant-model mismatches.
