Hostels

Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur) offers comprehensive on- campus residential facilities that form an integral part of campus life. The institute follows a fully residential model, enabling close interaction among students, faculty, and staff while fostering academic focus, cultural exchange, and holistic development. The hostels are designed to provide a safe, inclusive, and vibrant environment that supports learning beyond classrooms.

Brief Description of Hostels

IIT Jodhpur has a total of 17 student hostels, comprising 5 girls’ hostels and 12 boys’ (male) hostels, all located within the institute campus. Hostel allocation is governed by institute policies and is based on eligibility, program of study, year, and availability.

Accommodation is provided in single- or double-occupancy rooms, depending on the academic program (UG/PG/PhD) and year of residence. All first-year students (UG/PG/PhD) will be provided with rooms on a double-occupancy basis.

Each hostel functions as a close-knit residential unit with its own identity and community life. Hostels are administered by wardens, caretakers, and the Office of Hostel Affairs, who oversee operations, maintenance, discipline, and student welfare.

The residential system at IIT Jodhpur encourages participation in academic discussions, cultural activities, sports, and community engagement, contributing significantly to students’ overall development.

Laundry Services

Laundry facilities are provided to hostel residents to support their daily living requirements. For regular students residing in hostels, laundry service is available through a one-time laundry fee deposited along with the semester hostel fee, allowing students to avail laundry services for the entire semester as per prescribed norms.

For other categories of residents, including visitors, interns, executive participants, and short-term occupants, laundry services are available on a pay-per-use basis through authorised in-house or outsourced service providers.

The laundry service provider collects and delivers clothes directly from and to individual hostel rooms as per a predefined schedule communicated at the hostel level. Designated laundry timelines and procedures are notified by the hostel administration to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
